Peter John Thiessen Obituary
Peter John Thiessen (55) of North Adams went to his heavenly home much sooner than he expected, on Thursday December 8th due to complications related to a ruptured appendix.

Pete was born in Detroit on April 8th, 1961 to parents Jack and Marie (Peterson) Thiessen. Peter loved to learn. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute – Missions. He earned a degree in Radio and Communication from Bowling Green State University. Furthering his education, he attended Seminary at Trinity Evangelical University.

In 1990, Peter was appointed to the Evangelical Free Mission Board and was assigned to the Philippines where he met and married his beloved wife Grace (Balunto) Thiessen. While in the mission field, Peter also spent time writing the curriculums for Pioneer Clubs' summer camps. In 2004, the Lord called Peter and his family to Honduras. As preparation for the new mission field, they spent 10 months in Mexico studying the Spanish language. Most recently before Peter retired from the mission field, he pastored North Adams Bible Baptist Church and wrote theological articles for Camino Global Electronic Ministries.

Peter will be remembered as a devoted father to Ivan, Ira, and Ivory Thiessen. He took joy in sharing the life lessons he had learned and his past experiences with his kids. Peter's love for his children was shown through the amount of time he spent playing games with his family and taking them to various sporting events. Peter loved baseball and from his father, he inherited the love for the Detroit Tigers. It was because of this, that he thought it important to share that passion with his children.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Grace (Balunto) Thiessen, his children, Ivan, Ira, and Ivory Thiessen, sisters Kathy (Doug) Risher and Susan Habusta, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Marie, and by his sister Sally Pyburn.

Friends and Family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13t at Hampton Funeral Home 3380 W. Carleton Rd. Hillsdale, MI. There will be a Memorial Service celebrating the life of Peter at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Prattville Community Church, 10171 Coman Rd. Pittsford, MI.
