Ray Eugene Roberts Obituary

QUINCY - Ray Eugene Roberts, 90, of Reading, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Drew's Place of Coldwater. He was born August 20, 1925, in Wyandotte, MI, to Alfred and Iva Roberts.

Ray and served as a Boiler Tender Third Class, in the U.S. Navy during WWII, from February 1943 to March 1946. He was a life member of the American Legion and current member of the Quincy American Legion Post #157. Ray was an employee of Consumers Power until his retirement in 1980 and enjoyed fishing, playing euchre, and caring for his lawn.

On July 11, 1946, he married Winnifred Elizabeth Frid, and she preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Ray (Patricia) Roberts of Coldwater; daughter- in-law, Colleen (Douglas) Roberts of Virginia Beach VA; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Purk, Matthew (Mikelle) Roberts, Christina Roberts, and Doug Roberts; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas L. Roberts; brother, Rodney; and sister, Naomi.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Quincy, with Pastor Don Lee officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Coldwater American Legion Drill Team #52. Visitation is scheduled Monday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.
