Rex Arthur Beach Obituary
Rex Arthur Beach, of North Adams, Michigan, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Hillsdale Hospital. He was born March 16, 1926 in North Adams, Michigan the son of Walter William and Mary Helen (Dear) Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gloria Beach, whom he married on May 15, 1947; two daughters, Mary Jo (Gary) Owens of Hillsdale, MI and Dianna (Jerry) Huepenbecker of Allen, MI; four grandchildren, Brad (Suzy) Lennox, Michelle Owens, Jerad Huepenbecker and Lacey O'Connor; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Trey Evans and Trinity O'Connor; one brother, Jack (Mary) Beach of North Adams, MI; one sister-in-law, Helen Beach of North Adams, MI and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Keith and Dean Beach.
Rex honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1944 – 1946 as a Lower Ball Gunner of a B-17. He was a member of the Hillsdale American Legion Post and a former member of the Hillsdale Elks Lodge. He was a very hard worker throughout his life and he owned and operated the Beach Barber Shop in North Adams for over 40 years, and he retired in 1993, known as the $ 2.00 Barber. He also worked at the North Adams-Jerome High School in the Custodial and Maintenance Department, and he ran the Beach Concession Stand for over 50 years.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Rex Arthur Beach will be held at the Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale, at 1 p.m. Friday, January 12th. Interment with Military Honors, will take place in the Northlawn Cemetery, in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, from 12 p.m. noon until the time of the service, at the funeral home in Hillsdale.
