Richard N. Fether Obituary
Richard N. Fether, 78, a life, long resident of Waldron, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 27, 2017, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born July 7, 1938, at home on the family farm in Amboy Twp., MI the son of Lloyd O. and Dorothy L. (Shaneour) Fether. He married Karen Y. Edinger on September 6, 1958, in Ransom, MI and she survives.
Richard was a life, long farmer and previously employed at Essex Wire in Hillsdale. He was 1956, graduate of Waldron High School, member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at Lake View United Brethren in Christ Church in Camden, MI; past school board member of Waldron Schools and past Township Supervisor of Amboy Township. Richard was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed fishing and the love of his life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving Richard in addition to his wife, Karen of 58 years, are two daughters, Kathy (Barry) Lockwood and Denise (Veryl) Doriot all of Waldron; one son, Eric (Deanna) Fether of Napoleon, OH; one sister, Delores (Robert) Harris and one brother Clifford (Margo) Fether all of Waldron; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Luke) O'Brien, Matt (Bethany) Lockwood, Samuel Lockwood and Kara Bryner, Shawn (Stephanie) Williams, Jennifer (Kevin) Phillips, Janelle Fether and Matt Price and Brent Fether and Miranda Miller; four great grandchildren, Parker Ann Lockwood, Aiden, Collin, and Braxton Williams; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth (Ray) Seilhamer of PA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Julie in infancy and two twin grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan in infancy.
A funeral service for Richard will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Lake View United Brethren in Christ Church (4616 E. Territorial Rd., Camden, MI 49232) with Rev. Stephen E. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Waldron Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
