Robert Glenn Oxenger Obituary
Robert Glenn Oxenger, 93, of Hillsdale and formerly of Ann Arbor, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Drews County Living in Hillsdale.

He was born March 27, 1920 in Reading to Ora J. and Hazel Marie (Ward) Oxenger. He married Charlotte Elizabeth McLean on November 3, 1945 and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2001.

Bob was a graduate of Reading High School and Hillsdale College in 1941 receiving a teaching degree in math and science. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII from 1942-1946 and he was active in the Reserve until 1985 when he retired as a Captain. Bob graduated from University of Michigan School of Pharmacy with honors in 1949 and he worked 13 years in retail pharmacy. He later went back to teaching mathematics in the Ann Arbor Public Schools from 1963- 1985. In 1968, Bob received his M.A. degree from University of Michigan. Bob was a life member of the Ann Arbor Legion Post #46, Life member of C.G. Combat Veterans Association and a member of the Free Masons, T.R.O.A., M.E.A, and N.E.A.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Daniel Oxenger of Hillsdale and David Oxenger of Cleveland; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Oxenger; and a brother, Richard Oxenger of Clear Lake and several special nieces.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his parents; a son, Peter M. Oxenger; daughter-in-law, Pamela Heath Cook: sister, Pauline Jackson and two brothers, Duane and John Oxenger.

A visitation for Bob Oxenger will be Monday, March 10, 2014 from 5-7 PM at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Ann Arbor with a visitation beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor.
