Robert Nelson ""Bob"" Elliott Obituary
Robert "Bob" Nelson Elliott died on January 2, 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ of natural causes. He was born in Highland Park, MI on February 16, 1923 and grew up in Ferndale, MI. He was nearly 91-years-old and active until his very last day with us. Bob is survived by Phyllis Jean Smith, his wife of 69 years, his son Steve Elliott and his wife Anita, and his grandsons Dustin and Andrew Elliott, and granddaughter Shantel Shegog.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Ellen Kay, and his brother Harold Elliott, and his sister Marjorie Tilden.

Robert served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. After leaving the service, he moved to Hillsdale, MI with his new bride. Robert and Jean were residence of Hillsdale for 70 years, where they owned and operated the R&J Shop for nearly 40 years and were active members of the Hillsdale First United Methodist Church. Robert and Jean moved to Scottsdale in early 2013 to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law. Robert was an avid photographer, enjoyed a weekly round of golf with Hillsdale buddies, loved to bird watch, and care for his yard, especially the flowers. He was a big Michigan fan, rarely missed watching a Detroit Tigers game, and enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army.

A memorial service will be held in Hillsdale when the flowers are blooming this spring. An announcement about this service will be printed in the newspaper.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hillsdale First United Methodist Church.
