Susan Alice (Higley) Mills Obituary
Susan Alice Higley Mills, 75, of Jonesville, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 9, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Don and Aileen (Roberts) Higley. Sue married David Mills on April 20, 1963 and he survives.
Sue graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1959 where she was a proud member of Howard Rizner Hillsdale High School Choir. She received her bachelor's in education from Michigan State University in 1978 and she taught elementary school for many years, later retiring as a first grade teacher for Leslie Elementary School. Sue was a former member of Central United Methodist Church in Lansing where she served on numerous committees, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Sue currently was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church, Jonesville Red Hats and the Hillsdale Arts Chorale.
In addition to her husband of 54 years, David Mills, Sue is survived by two children, Laura Mills of Evanston, Illinois and Stephen Mills of Havre, Montana; granddaughter, Amy Aileen Mills of Evanston, Illinois and two siblings, Stephen (Roberta) Higley of Reading and Carolyn (Walter) Hemple of Shelton, Connecticut.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her step-mother, Alice.
Memorial services for Susan Mills will take place on at noon Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville.
