Thomas Lee Gochanour Obituary

HILLSDALE - Thomas Lee Gochanour, 65, of Hillsdale, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Drews Village Green in Hillsdale. He was born September 18, 1950 in Hillsdale to Leonard and Mazie (Croxton) Gochanour.

Tom graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1969 and he served his country in the United States Army. He was the former owner and operator of B&G Sand and Gravel and lifelong excavator. Tom was a member of the Hillsdale American Legion Post 53, Jonesville Eagles and the Moose Lodge in Fremont, Indiana. He loved tractors and heavy machinery and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his companion of 20 years, Nancy Hinkle of Hillsdale; two daughters, Heidi (Dave Firrone) Gochanour of Osseo and Jennifer (Doug) Wood of Hillsdale; sister, Jane (Karl) Bernard of Hillsdale; 4 grandchildren, McKenzie Firrone, Baylee Firrone, Jacob Wood and Brandon Wood; step granddaughter, Alex (Dean) Baldwin and step great-granddaughter, Aleigha Baldwin.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Gump; two sisters, JoAdele Ladd and Sharon Watkins and three brothers, Charles "Chuck" Gochanour, David Gochanour and Gary Dunton.

Funeral services for Tom Gochanour will be Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Rev. Don Harkey officiating. Interment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Reading at a later date. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
