Verdon Gordon Obituary

NORTH ADAMS - Verdon E. Gordon, 67, of North Adams, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born February 25, 1948 Hillsdale to Harry & Frieda (Barnhart) Gordon. Verdon was married October 10, 1970 to Deborah Harmon and she survives.

Verdon was a former employee at Bob Evans Farms in Hillsdale for 22 years, also at Performance Auto Parts in Hillsdale for 8 years and retired in 2010 from C.E. Electronics in Bryan, Ohio. He was a graduate of North Adams High, class of 1966. He was a member of the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Vietnam Era. Verdon was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams and head of the Men's Prayer Breakfast Club, at the church.

Surviving besides his wife Deborah is a son, Eric Gordon of Hillsdale; brothers, Howard (Pat) Gordon of North Adams, twin brother Vernon (Esther) Gordon of Battle Creek and Rick (Phyllis) Gordon of Hillsdale; sisters-in-law, Kathy and Sharon Gordon.

Verdon was preceded in death by his parents, a son Alex and brothers David and Raymond.

Memorial services for Verdon Gordon will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of North Adams with Pastor Eric Sass officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday morning from 9:30 until services at 11 a.m., at the church. Arrangement are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
