Virginia Josephine (LoPresto) Cooper Obituary
Virginia Josephine (LoPresto) Cooper, age 94, passed away June 27, 2017 after battling renal failure for many years. She was born to Salvatore (Sam) LoPresto and Vincenza (Jennie) LoPresto on March 23, 1923 in Hillsdale, Michigan where the family had settled after immigrating from San Biagio, Platani, Sicily.
Virginia was the youngest of five children, Joseph, Ambrose, Mary and Theresa, who along with their parents have preceded her in death. She married Emmett (Don) Cooper on October 28, 1944 while he was on leave from the military. He passed away on March 10, 1979. Virginia was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Norton Shores, Michigan and St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hillsdale, Michigan.
She also regularly volunteered at the YMCA and was a recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Virginia was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had an enormous personality marked by playfulness and fun that overcame much pain and adversity and inspired joy. She put family first, displayed wisdom and compassion and helped others at a moment's notice. Her passing leaves an immense void for the many who loved her but our treasured memories of her will last forever.
Virginia is survived by Jeanne (Bill) Cooper-Kuiper, as well as her twin daughters, Connie (Patrick Landru) Eltman and Bonnie Kyser (Bob) LaValle; grandchildren, Brett Kyser, Jenna Kyser, Matt (Karina Mia Hernandez) Eltman, Natasha (John) Cusack, Christopher (Keri) Kuiper, Samuel Kuiper and Emily Kuiper; seven great-grandchildren, Alex and Kennedy Kuiper, Claire, Gabe and Anna Cusack, Travis Grabe and Parker Kuiper; twelve nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces and nephews and also many cousins.
A special thank you to her granddaughter and best friend Jenna, who provided devoted, loving care to her in the last years of life.
