William A. Haddix Obituary
William A. Haddix, 86, of Monroe, passed away at 5 a.m. Thursday in his home.
Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home. He will lie instate at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Divine Grace Parish (St. Patrick Church), Carleton with Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Rev. Steven Mateja, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Rath Cemetery, Monroe.
Bill was born July 7, 1930 in Alberta, Canada. He was the son of Vivian 'Bud' and Beatrice (Host) Haddix. He married Audrey A. Scheich November 12, 1949; she preceded him in death May 30, 1987. He then married Sue Wolfenbarger May 5, 1995.
He was a member of the first graduating class from Monroe Catholic Central in 1948.
After completing a year at the University of Toledo, Bill was proud to consider himself a self employed individual having many different business interests and talents, one of the major ones being farming.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling having been to almost every state, his favorite being Alaska. Due to his love of hunting, fishing and traveling, he made several trips to the Western United States and Canada to hunt and fish.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Haddix of Monroe; ten children, David (Niki) Haddix of Dundee, Sandy (Rick) Beach of North Adams, Chuck (Cherry) Haddix of Carleton, Mark (Connie) Haddix of Carleton, Ed (Susan) Haddix of Sparta, Duane (Dawn) Haddix of Monroe, Kathleen (Mark) Schmitt of Jonesville, Scott (Shellie) Haddix of Carleton, Dawn (Gerry) Bradshaw of Clinton Twp. and Jamie (Tara) Bradshaw of Wyandotte; seven siblings, Keith (Catherine) Haddix of Monroe, Pat Kane of Tecumseh, Shirley Frey of California, Sharon (Al) Heiserman of Somerset, Thomas (Bonnie) Haddix of Monroe, June (Mike) Staggs of Florida and Sally (Terry) Norman of Florida; thirty four grandchildren, forty seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Linda Haddix; two grandsons, David and Daniel Haddix and a brother, Jack Haddix.
