William Richard Johnson Obituary

HILLSDALE - William Richard Johnson was born April 2, 1925 to Harold M. and Marjorie (Alwood) Johnson in Hillsdale, Michigan.

William graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1943. He served in the Army Air Force in WWII. He attended Hillsdale College and graduated from Tri-State University in 1949.

On October 9, 1949 he married Henrietta A. Packer.

He was a member of the Hillsdale United Brethren Church where he served in several capacities. He worked at Faulke Lumber Company and retired from Simpson Industries after 26 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion.

William is survived by daughters Sandra Ann Fecher, Sharon K. (Mike) Karslake and son Thomas K. (Dyann) Johnson. There are seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

William loved to travel. He spent most of the last four years in California with his daughter Sandra but made yearly trips home to Michigan to visit family and friends. He was a friend to everyone and will be sorely missed.

The funeral will be at the United Brethren Church in Hillsdale, Michigan, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Hillsdale County Senior Services Center, 320 W. Bacon Rd., Hillsdale, MI 49242. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
