Clair Nelson Obituary

Clair Vaughn Nelson, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Jan. 3, 2009, in Logan, Utah, at the age of 63 after a courageous two-year battle with brain cancer.
Clair was born in Preston, Idaho, on May 11, 1945, to Vaughn and Flora Nelson. He married Vicki Larsen on July 10, 1967. Together they had three children and five grandchildren. He loved his family and was very proud of all of them and their accomplishments.
Clair attended Logan schools and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Clair loved growing up in a valley of mountains and streams and spent many hours there. He was a master hunter and fisherman. He especially loved doing these things with his sons, grandson and friends. You will notice there will be a lot more fish in the valley now. Clair made his living as an expert carpet installer. His proficiency and speed were truly amazing to watch. He was a quiet, kind and unselfish man who was always available to help anyone with anything they needed help doing.
Clair had a lot of good friends and very much enjoyed the time he spent with them. Clair always thought after enduring very difficult treatments that he would get well. He will be greatly missed. And as Clair would always say instead of good-bye, "see you in the spring."
He is survived by his wife Vicki of 41 years; daughter Michelle (Daron Sawley); son Stacy Vaughn (Julie); son Colby Clair (Tami); grandchildren, Shalee, Cade, Andrea, McKenzie and Amanda Nelson; brother Rodney Nelson (Arlene) of Chino, Calif.; sister Renee Baugh of Sandy, Utah; sisters-in-law, Sondra (Larry Hobbs) of Franklin, Idaho, and Loretta (Sterling Gale) of Smithfield, Utah; and brothers-in-law, Richard Larsen of Irvine, Calif., and Berre Larsen of Logan, Utah. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vaughn and Flora Nelson; his in-laws, Lorin and Margaret Larsen; his sister Karen; and brother-in-law Lyle Baugh.
We would like to express our thanks to Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and his staff for their loving care, Dr. Leslie Ingersoll for her concern and care and especially want to thank the Alpine Hospice for their tender care. We would also like to thank all our family and friends for all their love and support and all that they have done for us.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and prior to services at the mortuary on Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.
