Michael Andrew Obituary

Michael Andrew
August 5, 1954 - March 3, 2016
Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and friend was released from his pain on March 3, 2016, after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was born August 5, 1954, to Marion and Helena Cottle Andrew, of Trenton, Utah. He was raised in Trenton, where he met and married Betty in February of 1971. They have five children, Lizette (Dan) Littlefield, AZ, Dusty (Kim) Pocatello, ID, Christy (Jason) Benson, UT, Jed (Ellie) Maple Falls, WA and Ryan of Logan, UT. Although Mike and Betty were later divorced Mother fulfilled her duties and cared for Mike until his last breath. Dad leaves behind his children, 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, our beloved Betty, and Toby the dog. His siblings Eva Rae (Richard) Keiser, West Valley, UT, Patricia (Lynn) Johnson Logan, UT, Johnny (Lillian) Orem, UT, Ruth (Rae) Stoker Council, ID, Stuart (Evelyn) Smithfield, UT, Steve (Kathy) Nibley, UT, Marion (Dennis) Layne, Riverside, UT, David (Darlene) Lewiston, UT, Julie (Tony) Rosales Yorba Linda, CA, Robert (Dixie) St. George, UT, Bruce (Lynnette) Converse, TX He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Richard, and Lillian.
Dad was born the 8th of 12 children. Dad spent most of his life living in Trenton. Marion passed when Dad was a small child and Helena raised the 12 children for the remainder of her life. Dad loved his Mother and was forever grateful for her sacrifices. Our Hearts have peace knowing that Marion and Helena finally have their son to hold together again. Dad also lived in Lewiston, Utah, during the course of his marriage with Betty. They owned and operated "The Cafe" in uptown Lewiston. Dad loved billiards with friends and the Cutter Race season. Many memories of "The Cafe" uptown will remain his legacy. Dad worked as an equipment operator for many years, In the construction industry running various heavy equipment and then as Yard Boss at Economy Auto. His friends made from his work were life long, and the experiences created for our family will remain. Dad married Sandy in 1993, and although they were later divorced they remained friends. Dad enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to Lake Powell with friends. He loved wagering on football and enjoyed every season til the day he died. Dad always had a helping hand for a friend, a shoulder to cry on, and a place for you to be yourself and we will miss him greatly.
We would like to thank the staff at Integrity Home Health & Hospice who became part of our family and treated Dad with such love and respect right to the end.

When I started hanging out with Dave in the early '90's, it was Mike this and Mike that. We knew about four Mikes so as a way to tell them apart, Dave started calling Mike, Brother Mike. A few weeks later I met Mike. Soon, it just wasn't a way to tell the Mikes apart, Brother Mike became my brother. Not by genes, not by the same mother or father, but by blood (brothers) and by our choosing. I would also be honored to call Dave "Brother Dave", if I didn't already have a brother named Dave.

Dear family, I went to school with Mike. He was my age and in our class at the Trenton Elementary. It is kind of daunting when you see a fellow classmate pass on. To my knowledge Mike is the first one of our group to leave us. I remember Mike was a very good baseball and softball player. Oh the fun we had in 5th and 6th grade with Dale Rindlisbacher as our teacher and principal. Oh how we came one February morning to hear of our basketball hero, Wayne Estes had been killed. Those days seem long ago. I remember how kind your mom was, Mike had a lot of her qualities that way. GodSpeed fellow classmate until we meet again.
