Norris Goold Obituary

Norris Winsor Goold passed away peacefully in his daughter's home May 19, 2008, at the age of 86.
He was born March 11, 1922, in Monroe, Utah, to Binning and Emma Goold. He graduated from South Sevier High School and served with the Army Signal Corps during World War II. He married Geraldine Levie in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 30, 1946.
He received bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU in education. He taught school for 23 years. He built several homes and apartments in Salt Lake City with his wife. Geri was in a small plane crash on Aug. 7, 1979. Together they served a mission in the Utah Salt Lake North Mission Office. Geri passed away May 8, 1985. Norris married Betty Jean Collmar on Nov. 21, 1987. Their marriage was solemnized two years later in the Logan LDS Temple. They shared their life together in Brigham City. He was an ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple, loved genealogy and completed an extensive amount of family history. As a talented classical clarinetist he enjoyed a passion for beautiful music.
Norris is survived by his wife, Betty Jean; his children, Linda Maynes, Gary (Elaine), Steven (Elizabeth), Valerie (John) Gavin, Cynthia (Kreg) Crofts and MaryLynne (Ron) Jensen; his stepchildren, Dennis (Wendy) Collmar, Diane (Rick) Zundel and Jeff Collmar; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Norris was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fred, Lee and Harold; two sisters, LaRue and Merle; daughter, Janet Shon; and step-son, Bruce Collmar.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Brigham City 11th Ward chapel, 200 E. 500 South, where a viewing will be from 10 to 10:40 a.m. with military honors accorded by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County following the services. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in the Monroe Cemetery.

Dear Goold Family: Jean and I extend our condolences and sympathy to you all at the passing of your beloved father. Norris and Geri had a great impact on Capitol Hill and still do. We are grateful for the influence of this good man with his desires to improve and benefit others. We send our love and best wishes.
