Ernest W. Knowles
Logan - Ernest Woolf Knowles, 72, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his home in Logan, Utah. He was born March 11, 1942 to Irvine and Enetta Knowles. He grew up in Logan and graduated from Logan High School. Soon after he met his sweetheart, Myrna Secrist and they were married Aug. 23, 1963. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS temple in 1977. In 2013 they celebrated their 50th anniversary together.
They were blessed with five children. Ernie was an amazing father and his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He also had 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was very involved in their lives and rarely missed a dance recital or ball game.
Ernie was a well-known and respected business owner in the painting industry. He retired in 2008 from Knowles Painting where he enjoyed working with his sons.
Ernie was active in the LDS church, where he served in many different capacities, including Bishop, Scoutmaster, and Stake Presidencies. Most recently he served in the Logan temple. One of his favorite callings was working with the scouts. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for his dedication and service.
Ernie was generous and compassionate and loved serving others. His most recent project was to help organize service oriented youth conferences for over 480 youth in the valley.
Ernie enjoyed traveling with his wife and many friends. He also loved to golf, but the thing he enjoyed the most was being with his family.
Ernie had a fun sense of humor and everyone who knew him loved to be around him. He could always make you laugh.
Through his years of service and selfless acts of kindness, he touched many lives.
Survived by the love of his life, wife, Myrna Secrist Knowles, daughter Natalie (Jeff) Lamb, sons Darrin (Shanna) Knowles, Brandon (Jamie) Knowles, Brady (Yamel) Knowles and Kasey (Nicole) Knowles and brother Marlo Knowles.
Ernie and Myrna enjoyed 19 grandchildren (one grandson currently serving in the Halifax, Canada mission) and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janiece.
