Grant Smith Williams, age 93, died of natural causes on Sunday, July 6, 2014, in Logan, Utah. He was born July 18, 1920, in Ogden, Utah, the sixth and last child to be added to the George Hyrum & Esther Ellen Webb Williams family.
Grant had a determination and work ethic that propelled him to succeed. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Philippines during World War II and later graduated from college with a double major in Economics and Business.
He spent the majority of his employment in the U.S. Social Security Administration and received a Commissioner's Citation for sustained excellence in directing program activities. After retirement he often communicated with House and Senate representatives. Grant Williams loved America and was a true patriot.
Grant met his future wife on a blind date. Rolene captured his heart, and they were married on June 23, 1949, in the Logan Temple. Three boys were born to them. He loved his family and spent time teaching his sons to work hard, get an education and never give up on their dreams. His family was the center of his life.
The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same location one hour prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
