Gloria Wursten Obituary

Gloria Dopp Wursten, 91, Colorado Springs, Colo., died Feb. 28, 2012. She was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Lewiston, Cache Valley, Utah, to Joseph Elmer Dopp and Rhoda Annette Olsen. She was the only daughter of five children. In 1940, she married her childhood sweetheart, Ervin Wursten. They were married 70 years.
Gloria was an Air Force wife for 30 years beginning in World War II. During WWII she began volunteering with the Red Cross and continued that service at military hospitals throughout her life. She also provided faithful service in positions within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including as Relief Society president.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, cook and seamstress. She was an avid and accomplished golfer and bowler and loved to read.
She is survived by her husband, Ervin of Colorado Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jim Cunningham of St. George, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Sandi Wursten of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Dana Distelhorst of O'Fallon, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband and family.
A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Black Forest meetinghouse (Shoup and Black Forest roads) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colorado Springs, Colo. Burial will be at the Fort Logan National Cemetery on March 5.
