Logan - Doreen Crooks was born in the Northeast of England on Feb. 28, 1927. She lived in England for the first 50 years of her life, where she was married and later divorced. In 1977 Doreen left England with few, if any, regrets, and moved to California, where she became a well-known interior designer, specializing in designing kitchens and bathrooms. She continued her career after she moved to Colorado, and later retired to Buffalo, Wyo. About 10 years ago she relocated to Logan. She will be remembered as a fun-loving person who had an extraordinary ability to make a circle of close friends wherever she lived. She enjoyed the scenery and the people of the American West, with an especial love for the Native American culture. She loved spending time entertaining her friends and eating good food. As Doreen became more confined to her apartment, her doves relieved her boredom. She loved talking to them and spoiling them, as she had previously spoiled her cats in Wyoming. For as long as her eyesight would permit, Doreen took great pleasure in creating beautiful handwork. She became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 13 years ago in Buffalo. She frequently said that God had always watched over her, and she embraced her newfound faith with great enthusiasm. While her eyesight permitted, she spent hours doing family history research and going to the temple. Doreen, we will miss your smile, your laughter and your caring spirit. We wish you well. Her friends would like to give special thanks to Sue Ann Smith and the staff at the Caregivers' Support Network Hospice; her physician, Dr. Desirae Goble; and the staff at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at the Logan 14th Ward Chapel, 94 W. 600 South, Logan, with Bishop Wallis presiding. The services will be preceded by a viewing at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
