Chico, Calif - Sherrill Joan Reese Allen, age 81, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 of Alzheimer 's disease.
She was born in Logan, Utah to Robert and Elva Reese. She graduated from Cache Valley High in 1950 at the top of her class, and attended Utah State University. She was married to Dennis K. Allen, for nearly 60 years, whose death preceded hers in 2011.
She was an accomplished pianist and taught music lessons to hundreds of students for over 30 years. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved sharing music, coordinating activities, and serving others. She loved traveling with Dennis in their later years. They made their home in Chico, Calif. for 50 years but enjoyed their second home in Logan, Utah during the summers to be near new and old friends.
She is survived by her sister Tamara Reese DeBernochi, as well as three children: Randy Allen, of Las Vegas, Nev.; Hedi Allen-Hydo, of Solana Beach, Calif.; and Sherisse Allen Felix, of Chico, Calif.; their spouses and ten grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the Richmond Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.
