Alfred (Al) Warren Hanko, age 91, of Holland, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at Hospice House of Holland.
Al was a member of Christ Memorial Church, a veteran of World War II
, and retired after an outstanding career with The Pillsbury Company in 1988. He was known and appreciated for his sense of humor, strength of character, artistic ability and love of golf.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; and a great-grandson.
He is survived by his dear wife of 65 years, Evelyn; and their children, Kathy (Dar) VanderWal of Kalamazoo, Fred (Carol Scholten) Hanko of Holland, Carole (Jan) Fields of Grand Rapids and Mark (Wendy Smith) Hanko of Holland; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Nelson of Demotte, IN; and a sister-in-law, Miggie Hanko of Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014, in the Chapel at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Road, Holland (please use entrances D & E). Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
