La Vonne Dale (Blocker) Bly(1926 - 2014)

La Vonne Dale (Blocker) Bly passed away peacefully Sunday, March 30, 2014, while outdoors enjoying the sunshine, songbirds and pansies with family. La Vonne was born in Brown County, Minnesota on August 17, 1926, to Louis and Caroline Edna (Nelson) Blocker. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors Degree in education. She taught elementary school for Kentwood Public Schools for 23 years. She was a memeber of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids for 43 years, Peace Lutheran Church in Holland for 17 years, and was currenlty a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Franklin, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; daughter, Karen (Bly) Walrath; sisters, Mildred (Blocker) Meyer of Sleepy Eye, MN, and Rosalyn (Blocker) Toich of Henderson, NV; and brother, Eugene Blocker of Ely, MN. She is survived by her sisters, Ramona (Blocker) Hansen of Sturgis, SD, Naomi (Blocker) Shnegosky Flaig of Eau Claire, WI; children, Karl and Marsha (Munschy) Bly of Franklin, KY, Kathy Bly of Negaunee, and Kristi (Bly) Wilkerson of Merritt Island, FL; grandchildren, Jay Walrath of McHenry, IL, Judy Walrath of Fishers, IN, Dan and Jane (Walrath) Nitsch of Fishers, IN, JoAnn Cooper of Alleyton, TX, PJ Wilkerson of Merritt Island, FL, Kristopher and Kelsey Thompson of Marquette, Kiersten Thompson of Ishpeming, Kimberly Thompson of Marquette, and Andrew and Katie (Thompson) Niemann of Negaunee; great-grandchildren, Gordon Nitsch of Fishers, IN, Hank Wymer of Holland and Naomi Wymer of Holland; and great-great-granddaughter, Nola Dekam of Holland.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 26, 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 389 James Street, Holland. Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
