William Glenn Garlough of Holland, passed away peacefully in the Inn at Freedom Village on January 31, 2014. He was 89 years old.
Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps
in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II
. Following his graduation from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY, Bill enjoyed a long career in business that took him to many states, ending here in Holland at Freedom Village where he lived the last nine years of his life.
The last move brought Bill and his wife, Charlotte, closer to their family. It is comforting now to the family that they were able to visit him during the November and December holidays, and again in January during the last 2 weeks of Bill's life.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Charlotte (Tanzer; sons, William (Karen), and Robert; grandchildren, Jonathan (Melissa), Jeremy (Elizabeth), Kristen Garlough, and Katherine Evereth.
He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Emma, Kaitlyn, Lorelai and Olivia Garlough; sister, Elizabeth Neher; sister-in-law, Sally Dingsoyr; daughter-in-law, Nancy Garlough; son-in-law, Michael Evereth; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Evereth; his brother, Charles; and parents, Gladys [Killam] and Henry James Garlough.
A "Celebration of Life Service" will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, in the auditorium of Freedom Village, 145 Columbia Ave., Holland. Interment, for family only, will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery prior to the service.
