Jonathan Jay Borr, 40, of Aiea, Hawaii passed away August 2, 2017, at his parent's home in Holland, following a diagnosis earlier this year of Amyloidosis. His devoted wife and loving parents were by his side.
Jon was born on August 24, 1976, in Holland, the son of Ronald and Hazel (Helder) Borr. He graduated from West Ottawa High School in 1995 and Syracuse University in 1999. On June 21, 2009, he married Chikako Iwama on a catamaran off of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jon worked as an Environmental Engineer Project Manager in Hawaii. Jon loved going to the beach, grilling with friends on the weekend, playing with their dogs Maui & Ichura, and going to the movies.
Jon is survived by his wife, Chikako; parents, Ronald & Hazel (Helder) Borr of Holland; Mother & Father-in Law, Katsujo & Kazuko Iwama of Japan; siblings, Michelle (Craig) Hulst of Holland, Jodie (Ron) Hays of Rochester Hills, MI and Daisuke (Hiromi) of Japan; and nieces Alissa & Eliana Hulst, and Reagan Hays.
The family will be having a private service Saturday afternoon August 5. After the service, there will be an open house/visitation to greet Jon's family, celebrate his life, and share memories from 2-3:30 at Rose Park Reformed Church. My stepmom sent this to me asking if I new Jon. I do remember him from school as I am a 1996 WO graduate. We may have even lived in the same neighborhood for a bit of time. I am so sorry for your loss. I am also writing to let you know that my dad passed away of Amyloidosis on June 27. He was 59. He finally got a concrete diagnosis in maybe January. It was a long road of doctors visits, and misdiagnosis until he found a neurologist who listened and figured it out. Again, so sorry for your loss. Not easy.

I'm so sorry to hear of Jons passing. Sincere condolences to his friends & family. I met Jon at SU and visited him out in Hawaii shortly after he moved there. He was truly happy there- Hawaii looked good on him. We lost touch over the years, but I'll never forget the amazing trip & all of the adventures we had. He was a great guy.

Me and my brother Juaquin will miss Jon greatly. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. He was like family to us, and was a the most loyal, honest and caring person around.
