Samuel Morehead Obituary
Samuel "Sam" Morehead, 87, of Fennville, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 7, 2013. Born July 5, 1926 in Wetumka, Oklahoma, he was the son of Earl and Charlotte (Barnett) Morehead. A WW II Army veteran, Sam married his wife of 67 years, Haidee (Caulk) Morehead, on November 3, 1946, in Irving, Illinois.

He was a retired school teacher and coach, spending most of his career with the Fennville Public Schools. Most commonly referred to as Coach Morehead, he coached basketball, football, baseball and track. He was a member of the Fennville United Methodist Church, American Legion, VFW, Masons, Lions Club, and M.A.R.S.P. Sam was preceded in death by his daughter Vicki Hall on December 26, 2007.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Morehead, daughters, Hedy Morse, Jody and Dennis Martin, and Merri-Lou Perkins of Fennville, Tammy and Skip Pattison of Peach Tree City, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law Lemar Hartman.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 2013, from 1-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Fennville United Methodist Church 5849 M-89 Fennville, MI. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the Fennville High School Morehead Gymnasium, with Rev. Gary Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Fennville Cemetery.
