Bruce Sparks Obituary
Bruce L. Sparks, age 89 of Holland, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Holland Hospital.
Mr. Sparks was a lifelong Holland resident and graduated from Holland High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Bruce worked for Holland Rusk Factory, and then for 7-Up (now Brooks Beverage) until he retired. He later worked part time for Lamb Automotive. He enjoyed talking to everyone he met, playing canasta, reading novels, and doing puzzles, and especially loved spending time with his family, seeing most of them over the past Christmas holiday. He was a resident of American House in Holland.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Crystal Arlene Kole; in-laws, John and Henrietta Katt, Henry and Rena Petroelje, Donald Meeusen, and Pauline Brower.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean; Children, Kristi (Al) Cumming of Fenton (Tristam and Brandon Maddock, Wesley and Darliss Havemen, Erin and Ashley Bigger, Eileen and Joe Leyhane), Karen (Jim) Hull of Hudsonville (Beth and Brian Brower, Alex and Dana Hull), Jill (Tom) Bolton of Ohio (Ben, Natalie, and Daniel Bolton), Joel Sparks of Ann Arbor, and Amy Sparks of Holland. He was very proud of his 9 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Gayle Cain of Holt; in-laws, Roger and Maxine Meeusen, Kay Jackson, Donald and Fran Brower; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017 at South Olive CRC, 6425 120th Ave. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday, January 13 from 3-5 p.m. at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
