Dorothy McDonough Obituary
Dorothy Olive McDonough (nee Taylor) passed away January 7, 2017 at the age of 90 surrounded by loving family in Holland, Michigan.
Born in New York City June 9, 1926, Dorothy married Joseph McDonough in 1949, and soon moved to Paramus, NJ to raise their family. Dot entered nursing school after her youngest started school, and proudly served as an LPN at Bergen Pines County Hospital for many years.
Dot was a wonderful wife and mother; generous and kind, with a love for all living things, especially for cats, dogs and her garden. She was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Paramus, an outstanding role model and a pillar of strength for her family.
Dot moved to Holland after the death of her cherished husband Joseph, and soon after that was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Susan (Craig) Kolk of Williston, Vermont, and Virginia (Joseph) Stukey of Holland; her brothers, Gerald (Marty) Taylor and Wilfred Taylor. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Taylor and husband Jim Armbruster, Joseph Kolk, Geordan Stukey, Thomas Stukey; and nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at American House-Lighthouse for their kind care of Dot and Dot's faithful friend Gloria the cat these last few years. Memorials may be made to Harbor Humane Society in West Olive, MI. According to Dot's wishes, cremation has taken place to be followed by a small family ceremony.
Arrangements are by the Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home. www.langelandsterenberg.com
