Dwight Ferris Obituary
Dwight D. Ferris, age 95, of Holland died unexpectedly Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Holland Community Hospital.

He was born January 19, 1919, in Hastings, MI. After serving in the Army during World War II, he married Genevieve Erway in December 1945 and moved to Holland. Dwight was a member of Hope Reformed Church and was a past consistory member. In 1959, Dwight founded the accounting firm now known as Ferris, Busscher and Zwiers, P.C. He was active in various accounting associations and committees and at one time taught accounting at Hope College. Dwight currently was a life member of both the American Legion and Holland VFW. as well as a member of TPA and R.O.M.E.O. He served as the manager of the Holland Tulip Time Festival in the early 1960s as well as from 1970 through 1976 and was a past board member of the Alzheimer's Association, Allegan and Holland Chapters. Past memberships include the Exchange Club of Holland, Fraternal Order of Police and Holland Elk's Club. Dwight enjoyed golfing, Hope College basketball games and spending time at the family cottage.

He was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve in 2008.

He is survived by his children; Dennis Ferris and Deanna Gates of New York City, Gary and Sue Ferris of Holland, and Frances and Robert Hamilton of Holland; grandchildren, Rachael Hamilton, Nathan Hamilton and Kendrick Ferris; sister-in-law, Maxine Erhardt of Battle Creek and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at Hope Church, 77 West 11th St. with Revs. Jill Russell and Gordon Wiersma officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Hastings, MI. Friends may call on the family Thursday 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 188 West 32nd St.
