Gwendolyn L. Kraay Obituary
Gwendolyn L. Kraay, 87, of Shell Point Village, Ft. Myers, Florida, was called home to be with her loving Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.

Gwen was born September 13, 1926, in Holland, to Benjamin and Lucile Lemmen. She graduated from Hope College in 1948, and married Russell J. Kraay in 1951. They lived in Indianapolis for 28 years and moved to Punta Gorda, Florida when Russ retired in 1983. During the first 20 years of retirement in Punta Gorda, Gwen was a member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church where she was active in the women's circles. After moving to Shell Point Village in 2003, she became a member of the Village Church and was active in the Stamp Ministry.

Gwen always showed the love of Christ in very practical ways, such as inviting a blind girl to stay with them for a year. She welcomed visiting ministers, missionaries and family. Gwen also volunteered in an Indianapolis church's thrift store.

Gwen's immediate family includes her husband, Russell; daughter, Marta A. Kraay Highsmith (Mark); son, David R. Kraay (Donna); two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Other close family includes Gwen's brothers, Robert M. Lemmen, Charles J. Lemmen (Barbara); sisters-in-law, Jewel Kraay and Marjorie Kraay; and brother-in-law, Louis Kraay (Ruth).

A committal service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Dykstra Funeral Home–Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street in Holland. Reverend Mike Van Doornik will be officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery (the family will not be going to the cemetery).

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at the Village Church of Shell Point where Gwen is a member. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Hope Hospice at Shell Point, Ft. Myers, Florida or Hope College, Holland, Michigan.
