Gerrit "Gite" Van Langevelde Obituary
Gerrit "Gite" Van Langevelde, age 90, of Holland, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, March 27, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna (Rietsma); a son, David; and sister, Faye Koster.

Gite was a life-long member of Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church where he was active in many areas. He sang in the choir and was a member of the Central Avenue Quartet for many years.

He started working for Brower Interiors, followed by G&J Floor Coverings, Maplewood Home Furnishings, lastly as a realtor. He was an agent for Yonker Realty, Holland Real Estate and finally, Shorewood Realty.

Gite was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He is survived by his sons, Gary and Jane Van Langevelde, and Robert and Linda Van Langevelde, both of Holland; daughter-in-law, Laurie Van Langevelde of Holland; sister, Sadie Van Langevelde of Holland; in-laws, John and Dorie Rietsma of Zeeland; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

The Van Langevelde family would like to thank the staff of Resthaven Care Center for the love and care they gave their father over the past several months.

Funeral services with military honors will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 259 Central Ave., Holland, Rev. James H. Scholten officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland.
