Wilma Marie De Vries Obituary
Wilma Marie De Vries, age 95, went to her heavenly home on April 3, 2014, at the Terrace of Appledorn Living Center.

Wilma was born July 8, 1918, to Rev. Albert and Catherine Baker.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Clancy) De Vries; granddaughters, Stacey Rene' Walton and Jennifer Walton Owen; and a brother, Paul Baker.

Wilma had a special gift of love and kindness towards helping others. She sewed over 2000 crib quilts for Love Inc. and International Aide. She additionally volunteered hundreds of hours at Herrick Library and Evergreen Commons. Wilma had been employed by J.C. Penny Catalog for over 25 years. After retiring, she worked for Big Cheez/Catering Concepts until the age of 90.

Wilma is survived by her children, Duane and Bonnie De Vries of Wyoming, Shari and Wayne Walton of Holland, Lois and Dave Johnson of Zeeland, Bob and Sara De Vries of Holland; nine grandchildren, Michael Walton, David De Vries, Laurie De Vries Brecken, Traci and Robb VanderKamp, Joe and Anna Johnson, Christen and Chad Groenhout, Kyle and Amber De Vries, Chelsey De Vries, Corey Owen; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brothers, Marvin and Flo Baker of San Diego, California, Don and Arla Baker of Souix Falls, South Dakota.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Terrace of Appledorn for their compassion and genuine caring shown towards Wilma.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to offer a random act of kindness, a donation to or to Hospice of Michigan.

Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2014, at 6 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street in Holland. Rev. Larry Johnson will be officiating. Please visit lakeshorememorial.com to leave a message or memory for the De Vries family.
