Miriam Lucille Schrotenboer Obituary
Miriam Lucile Schrotenboer of Grand Rapids died on May 1, 2014.

Born Dec. 18, 1914, in Leroy, to Clifton and Aura Wenzel, she was married to Albert Schrotenboer for 56 years. Her husband preceded her in death in May, 1996. Her grandchildren Aron, Ian and Chad Schrotenboer also preceded her in death. Miriam and her family moved to Phoenix, AZ, when she was two years old and she lived there for 17 years. At age 19, she became a resident of Grand Rapids and met her husband, Al, at Davenport University. Following her graduation, she worked at a CPA firm and Al became president of Sackner Products, Inc. They were married in 1940, and are survived by their children, Jackie and John Burggraaff of Holland, Kim and Susan Schrotenboer of Grand Rapids, and Joy and Serge Fournier of Oak Ridge, TN. She has 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several cousins. She's also survived by her best friend, Mary Kuieck, 97 years old, of Grand Rapids. She was active at Grace Reformed Church of Wyoming, and was involved in several civic organizations including the Butterworth Hospital Guild, Kent County Republican Women and Hope College. She enjoyed bird-watching, playing golf and tennis, and was a member of Egypt Valley Country Club as well as the Peninsular Club of Grand Rapids. She brought great joy to her family and friends; faithful and generous to those in need. She had a flair for interior design, flower arranging and gift wrapping. Miriam's family thanks Royal Atrium Inn and Hospice House of Holland staffs for their wonderful care in her later years.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Metcalf Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids. A private family burial service will be at Findlay Cemetery, Ada, with Reverend Donald Jansen officiating.

Memorials may be made to Grace Reformed Church, 3330 Burlingame Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509.
