Wallace Folkert Obituary
Wallace Folkert, age 95, of Overisel, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, July 4, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Douglas and Sherry Folkert, North Pekin, IL, Rod and Hazel Folkert, Holland, Dr. Vaughn and Valerie Folkert, New Rochelle, NY, Ken and Mary Laarman, Holland, Lynda and Jack Tiggleman, Zeeland, Craig and Lisa Folkert, West Grove, PA, Clark and Donna Folkert, Hudsonville; daughter-in-law, Ruth Magnell, Mt. Pleasant; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Ter Haar, Holland; in-laws, Leona Folkert, Marian Folkert, Earl (Lucy) De Witt, Jane De Witt, Julius Brandt, Harvey Brandt; and many nieces and nephews.

Wally was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle; infant daughter, Marilyn; son, Kendall; daughter, Darlene Blease; siblings, Frieda, Morris and Jay Folkert.

He retired as the plant manager from John Thomas Batts where he worked for 20 years. He also worked his farm and at Janssen Hatchery.

Wally was a life-long member of Overisel Reformed Church, serving as Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader, and served on consistory. He loved to sing and blessed many with his voice.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Overisel Reformed Church. Reverend Dr. Scott Lokers will officiate. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Langland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland. Interment will be in Overisel Cemetery.
