Randall Vern Wolfe Obituary
Randall Vern Wolfe, age 66, of Holland (formerly of Hamilton and Memphis, TN), passed away Friday, July 18, 2014, following a four year journey with lung cancer.

Randy was born in Holland on March 9, 1948, to Russ and Ruth Wolfe. Randy attended Haven Reformed Church in Hamilton, and was a member of the Germantown United Methodist Church in Memphis, TN. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969-1970 as a Chief Warrant Officer flying Chinook helicopters. He also served in South Korea from 1972-1973.

Randy's flying career continued when he was hired as a pilot for FedEx, flying their Falcon Fan Jets in his first years and progressing to the 727, MD-10 and ending his 32 year career at FedEx flying their MD-11's worldwide.

His retirement party in November, 2007, will never be forgotten by all his family members who made the trip to Memphis to witness his last midnight arrival from Cambridge, England, to the Memphis FedEx terminal. He taxied in under the salute of fire engine water arcs customarily done to recognize a pilot's last flight.

Randy and Kathy's daughter, Amy, was born to them in 1986, while they were living in Memphis; and they made certain Amy knew her extended family in Michigan. Many trips were made over the years "up north" for summertime fun on Ottawa Beach, Tulip Time and Christmas holidays.

Randy will be missed by his family, neighbors, many dear friends and fellow FedEx pilots, as well as his ever faithful coffee buddies.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Russ Wolfe, in 1962; stepfather, Leon Rigterink, in 1992; father-in-law, Norm Prins, in 2006; and his mother-in-law, Thelma Prins, in 2009.

Randy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy; daughter, Amy Wolfe of Holland; mother, Ruth Wolfe Rigterink of Hamilton; sisters, Rhonda and Cal Oldebekking of Hamilton, Rocky and Steve Wilkins of Hamilton; in-laws, Dan and Barbara Prins of Texas, Karen Prins of Holland, Doug and Marlin Prins of Alaska, Darcy Prins of Georgia, Ross and Leesa Lamb of Saugatuck; many nieces, nephews and their families.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Haven Reformed Church, 4691 Oak St., Hamilton, with Rev. D. Marc de Waard officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Hamilton. Visiting hours are 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland.

Memorial contributions are encouraged to Hospice of Holland. Condolences may be left online at www.langelandsterenberg.com.
