Robert E. "Bob" Lange of East Lansing, formerly of Holland.

After a generous remission from prostate cancer, Robert E. "Bob" Lange of Wynwood Assisted Living in Haslett faced his God and gave his life on August 20, 2014. He freely gave his energy, spirit and good humor to one and all, including fellow congregation members of Zion Lutheran Church in Holland, and especially his immediate family, extended family and multitude of friends.

Born in Ridgeway, North Carolina, Bob grew up in Lansing, Illinois, where he met the love of his life, Ada A. (Reich) Lange, his wife for more than 70 years. He graduated from Thornton Fractional High School in Calumet City, IL, in 1938, and married Ada on October 2, 1943. Bob served as first lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946, and 1950-1953, during which time he was stationed in New Guinea, the eastern U.S. and France. He was the owner and operator of a Pepperidge Farm Bread franchise in the south suburbs of Chicago from 1955-1980. Bob attended St. John Lutheran Church in Lansing, IL, where he was baptized and educated, and where he worshipped and served for many years. He was an active member of the school board and served as a deacon, trustee and president. In 1986, Bob retired and moved to Holland where he and Ada joined Zion Lutheran Church, and continued to serve as treasurer and president.

Bob is preceded in death by his daughter, Doris Scarlett; brothers, Wilbert, Wally, Nelson and Billy; and sisters, Leona, Gladys, Esther, Helen and Bertha.

Surviving to cherish Bob's memory are his wife, Ada; sister, Irma Deichen; daughters, Edie Lange, June Lange and Lois (Kelly) Sanders; sons, Robert W. (Barb) Lange, and William J.
