Loretta Kellum Obituary

KELLUM, LORETTA LOUISE (nee Lechowicz), 72, of Kent Island and formerly of Ferndale passed away on January 31, 2011 after a stoic fight with pancreatic cancer. Born in Baltimore, she was a graduate of Brooklyn Park High School. She retired from the Maryland Natural Resources Fisheries.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Stephanie Lechowicz; husband of 53 years, Charles M. Kellum; and brother, Edwin Lechowicz. She is also survived by daughter, Joanne Dickey, and sons, Michael, Steven and Chuck Kellum; sisters, Mary Groh, and Janet Feuerstein, as well as 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Her life was honored by her family in private.

My Mother taught me many things in my 51 years, and the last thing she taught me was how to face extreme adversity and conquer. She never once wavered or faltered during her fight. She committed herself to ensuring her duties would be accomplished before her time expired. She reminded us all that her life was satisfying and she had no regrets. "It is what it is" was what she would tell us to give us comfort. I'll love my Mom forever. I miss her very, very much.

From the very first day I was old enough to know that she was my Mom she was the guiding light in my life. Her dedication to family made her one in a million. Her love for her husband of 53 years, myself, and my siblings made her one of a kind. Her life on earth was relatively short, but the memories we all share will be ours to keep for the rest of our days. God Bless you Mom, I love and miss you, and will always keep you in my heart, hopefully in the little hole you left there when God called you home. Rest peacefully.
