Stanley A. Gaudet, 92, a native of Cut Off and resident of Larose, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Phyllis Norton Gaudet; son, Lonnie Joseph Gaudet; daughter, Diana Gaudet Melancon and husband, Ted; grandchildren, Chad Melancon and wife, Tzena, Jeremy Dumond and wife, Nicole, Joshua Dumond, Devyn Gaudet, and Austin Gaudet; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Melancon and Brianna Dumond.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ambroise Gaudet; mother, Josephine Callahan Gaudet; daughter, Stephanie Gaudet Dumond; brother, Ambroise Jack Gaudet Jr.; sister, Sally Gaudet Stan; and granddaughter, Kristy Dumond.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and worked for Texaco for 32 years as a motorman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a member of the Larose V.F.W. and the Cut Off "Tin Shed" Fishing Club.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.
