Copes Courteaux, Melanie DeAnna  
Our beloved Melanie DeAnna Copes Courteaux was born May 7, 1975 in West Monroe, Louisiana and departed this life unexpectedly on April 25th, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her Father, Gordon Keith Copes and Grandfathers Alton "Pete" Copes, Jimmy E. Brock and Pete H. Rhymes. She is survived by daughters Erica Courteaux and Alyssa Gautreaux, Grandson Keithen Boudreaux, Mother Janice Brock Rhymes, Stepfather Pete H. Rhymes, II, Brothers Bradley Smithey, Brock Copes, and Holden Rhymes, Sisters Bonnie Copes Lebrun and Emmy Rhymes, Grandmothers Shirley Garner, Agnes Hale Gordon and Beverly Rhymes, countless beloved Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews, and extended family and friends. Her exuberance for life was contagious to those around her and her smile could light up a room. With her loving heart, she never met a stranger and always saw the good in every one she met. A private memorial service is pending.

Cortez Lewis, Audrey Ann  
Audrey Ann Cortez Lewis June 22, 1943 - May 2, 2016 Audrey Ann Cortez Lewis, 72, a native of Thibodaux and a resident of Morgan City, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City. Audrey was born June 22, 1943, to Vincent Paul and Bertha Bridget "Bea" Ledet Cortez in Thibodaux. She attended Mt. Carmel Academy and Nicholls State University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education in 1965. She taught Speech and English at Morgan City High School, Franklin Junior High School and Central Catholic High School before retiring "to become a full-time Granny." Audrey is survived by her daughter, Jean McCorkle of Berwick; and her two grandchildren, Tiffani McCorkle of Morgan City and John McCorkle of Berwick. Although three survive Audrey biologically, so many more were touched by her legacy. She directed plays for Children's Theatre for 20 years, having served as a founding board member and volunteered for Children's Church at Holy Cross Catholic Church. She also served as a Girl Scouts leader for her daughter's troop. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Jerry Cortez and Stephen Cortez. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. She will be buried with her parents at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Children's Theatre of Morgan City, P.O. Box 826, Morgan City, LA 70381. Please note a memorial donation in her name on checks. Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Nell Carson-Alvis, 74, a native and resident of Terrebonne Parish, passed away peacefully at 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until funeral time at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Dularge Community Baptist Church, with burial in Southdown Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Isaac Alvis Jr.; sons, Jessie Turner Jr. (Cassandra) and Rontrell Alvis; daughter, Sharon Dear (Deric); stepsons, Issac III., Michael, and David Alvis; grandchildren, Delmar and Derica Dear; brothers, Earl Ball, John (Augustine), Charlie (Jenny), Dennis, Jimmy, and Ronald Carson; sisters, Ivory Powell, Carolyn James, Ernestine Miller, Cathy Questel, Ella Small, Faye Jones, Anna McKnight, and Ruth Carter. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bevery Carson; grandchild, Sherrica Dear; parents, Jake and Mattie Bradley-Carson; stepmother, Elrena Carson; five brothers, and three sisters. Arrangements entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of Houma.

Doris Marie Chamberlain Blanchard, 88, passed away April 24, 2016. She was a native of Napoleonville, LA and a resident of Schriever, LA. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 9AM until funeral time at St. Anne Catholic Church in Napoleonville, LA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Perera and spouse Richard; sons, Calvin Chamberlain and companion Betty and Ronnie Chamberlain and companion Sandra; sisters, Marie Bergeron, Dorothy Naquin and Doicy Blanchard; grandchildren, Richard Perera, Jr., Tonya Schouest, Ryan Perera, Ronnie Chamberlain, Jr., Jimmy Rivero, Sandy Robichaux, Calvin Chamberlain, Jr., Nicole Chamberlain, Nicholas Chamberlain, Darla Giroir, Meca Landry, Courtney Boudreaux and 25 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first spouse, Herbert J. Chamberlain and second spouse Louis Blanchard; parents, Simillian Cavalier and Inez Rivero Cavalier; daughter, Diane Rivero; brothers, Leonce, Nora and Norris Cavalier; sisters, Gladys Millet, Joyce Albarado, Edith and Gertie Cavalier. Chiasson, Leonie Picou - Cut Off  
Mrs. Leonie Picou Chiasson, age 91, a native of Grand Isle and resident of Cut Off, LA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Visitation will be Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose from 9:00 a.m. until mass time at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by her five sons, Phillip, Jr. (wife, Bobbie). Gerald "Joe" (wife, Melanie), Douglas, Sr. (wife, Glorietta), Billy (wife, Pamela) and Danny (wife, Dawn); 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Phillip J. "P.J." Chiasson, Sr; parents, Antoine "PaDou" and Odile Savoie Picou; brother, George Picou. Leonie was a Larose High School Graduate, Class of 1941 and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Leonie had a great love of family, the Church and an all-around zest for life. George Cleveland, Sr., age 85, a native of Raceland and resident of New Orleans, transitioned into eternal life on Friday, April 22, 2015.
