Aleta Champagne

Aleta Marguerite Champagne, 56, died peacefully at home at 3 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, in Theriot, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Eloi Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church officiated by the Very Rev. Dean Danos, V.F., with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Gordon Michael Voisin and wife, Erika Boquet Voisin, of Bourg, and Jay Anthony Voisin and wife, Candice Rizzo Voisin, of Houma; daughter, Lorena Voisin Grant and husband, Kevin Joseph Grant, of Theriot; parents, Wilbert "Buddy" Champagne and Claire Rose Voisin Champagne, of Theriot; brother, Gregory William Champagne, of Theriot; sisters, Taryn Champagne Mader and husband, Randy Mader, of Theriot, Katrina Champagne, of Theriot, and Leslie Champagne Griffin and husband, Jimmy Griffin, of Mathews; and grandchildren, Riley, Marla, Carmen, Liam and Harper Voisin, and Michael and Nathaniel Grant.
She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Gabriel, Peter, and Christopher Grant.
Aleta had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She studied art and also enjoyed painting, needlework, reading, and gardening. She was a devoted Catholic who faithfully prayed the Rosary. She was a founding member and the first Consecrated Bride of Brides of the Most Blessed Trinity, an Apostolate that prays and offers sacrifices for priests and vocations to the priesthood. She gave herself to God as a martyr for priests 27 years ago in 1987.
