Barbara "B.J." Jacquelyn Backer, 83, a native of Houston, Texas, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, Sunday evening, Oct. 13, 2013. She lived her life to the fullest as a resident of Mandeville, Houma and Decatur, Ala.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur, Ala. Funeral services will be at noon Friday at the funeral home, with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Backer Seibert, of Houma; son, Brett Backer, of Hudson, Wisc.; and grandchildren, Amanda, Branden and Carleigh Seibert and Olivia and Ryan Backer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Clytie Palmer, of Kaufman, Texas; and sister, Jere Smith Cook, of Tulsa, Okla.
Barbara was retired from her business, Fabrics and Then Some, as an interior designer for 40 years.
She was dedicated to her church, God and Jesus Christ. She will "walk in the garden" with them forever.
Barbara loved her family and friends.
