Julie Ann Foret Townsend, 65, of Loranger, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at her residence. Julie was born Monday, Sept. 13, 1948, in Houma.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Deacon Al Levy officiating. Visitation in Houma will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, LaNette and Ernest Buras and Mary and John Cloud; son and daughter-in-law, David and Bonnie Townsend; grandchildren, Desireé and Alexis Morris; sisters, Nellie Hernandez, Doris Pearson and Mildred Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lee Townsend; parents, Etienne Foret and Syntta Rhodes Foret; brothers, Felix and Abby Foret; and sisters, Gladys Anderson and Jeanne Mayet.
She was active in the Boy Scouts, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, VFW
, Viet Nam Veterans Auxiliary, Disabled Veterans and a Volunteer at the V.A. Clinic in Hammond.
She was a retired Registered Nurse, and had worked at TGMC and Lallie Kemp.
