Murray A. Babin, 59, a native and resident of Thibodaux, passed away Tuesday, June, 25, 2013.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Thibodaux Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Brad Babin and Casie Babin; sister, Dorraine Mahler; and mother of Brad and Casie, Mary Mahler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lorita Chiasson Babin; and sister, Sandra Cortez.
He was a longtime member of the Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department since the 1970s. He reigned with his queen, Sarah Zeringue, as the 2011 Gumbo King of the Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department, and they traveled across the state. He was a carpenter and was the owner and operator of Murray Babin Construction. He was very involved with Schneider Ballpark in Chackbay, where he umpired and was a coach of the girl's youth pitch softball team.
