Douglas Trahan Obituary

Douglas Joseph Trahan, 85, a native of Youngsville and resident of Houma, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014.
Visitation will be 6-10 p.m. Monday at Falgout Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura Robin Trahan; sons, Ronnie and wife, Karlene, Tommy and wife, Nancy, Tony, and Kirk an wife, Deborah Trahan; daughters, Carol Fanguy, Glenda and husband, Jerome Brien, Jackie Billiot, and Laura and husband, Adam Albarado; brother, John Trahan; sister-in-law, Mildred Dugas; 36 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lelia Boudreaux Trahan; son-in-law, Steve Billiot; granddaughter, Brandy Runnels; daughter-in-law, Trish Trahan; brother, Electan and wife, Hazel Trahan; brothers-in-law, Charles Dugas and Edmond and wife, Eilene Robin; sisters, Edith and husband, Theard Bodoin, and Lula Mae and husband, Ducre' Simone; and sister-in-law, Edna and husband, Cecil Stoot.
Douglas was a parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever and St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma. After 40 years of service with Southern Pacific Railroad, he retired to be home with his family. He loved bowling, playing cards, fishing, and hunting.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers and sitters, Lacy King, Joyce Marcel, Monique Zeringue, and Karlene Trahan. Thanks also goes to the nurses and aides from Bayou Home Health Care and Haydel Hospice, and Dr. Bruce Guidry, Dr. Brian Matherne, and Dr. Miadoh, who were always available for him.
Their kindness and compassion was truly appreciated and shall not be forgotten.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sorry for your loss. He was a great man father grandfather and husband. I loved when he made jokes. And joked around. Very loving and funny man. I will truly miss.
