I have an emptiness in my heart. Peter was the most kind, generous, earnest and inspiring friend in the world. Watching Peter accomplish all that he did encouraged me to want to do more. He set the standard for humanitarian. To see the love in his eyes for his wife, Betty, was heartwarming. Together they were the "power couple". I never heard an unkind world spoken by Peter. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He had a magnetism that caused you to want to be around him more and more.
I will surely miss him.

Peter was a great friend to me and I will always remember his smile and his great joy of life. We shared many memories together and had many long discussions. He would always tell me the best thing he ever did was marry his wife, Betty. He will be missed. Deepest sympathy to Betty and the entire family.

Oh, Betty, I can't believe we won't have Buddy with us and with you on this earth. But what a blast they must be having with him on the other side. You will be in my prayers in a special way. I love you and will be with you spiritually all the way from Nicaragua... I wish I could be with you physically. I'm sure someones from the Fanguy family will be there, and I with them. Boy, will we miss him! His mischief, his jokes, his stories, his affection and his history of service are just irreplacable. You, too. Much love, Dianne

A patriot, a public servant, and a man dedicated to building a two party system in Louisiana. He had the energy of one twice as young. I was able to give him a hug at the Chamber Banquet and told him I loved him. The Krewe of Heaven is getting a good rider. He will be canvassing his cloud, looking for votes for a heavenly cause. Wishing him godspeed on his next journey.

I simply adored and admired Mr. Peter! He was such a good friend, advisor, and supporter. I was always in awe of the knowledge he had of local politics, both past and present. I will never forget his smile as he recounted how he rode people up and down on the elevator in the newly constructed courthouse in 1938 when he was just a young boy. He was a walking encyclopedia on the history of our parish. His love of Terrebonne Parish was evident and I am saddened at the loss. My thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Betty and the entire Bourgeois family.

Aunt Betty & boys - I am so very sorry that I will not be able to come to Uncle Buddy's funeral. He always was one of my favorites. I so enjoyed visiting with you on my infrequent trips to Houma. My problem is that I just live too far away. Know that you are in my prayers.

Mrs. Betty, Pete, Clyde, and Clark...

I have so many memories etched in my mind about Mr. Pete. I think probably the greatest is that he treated us young teenage boys as men when we were growing up. He would take time to talk to us as if we were his age. That sort of thing leaves a big impression on young people.

My prayers are with you all, and may he rest in peace...he was a fine man, and friend.
