Dudley Mitchel Foret, 77, a native of Raceland and resident of Houma, died at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He will be honored by the United Veterans League during Wednesday's visitation for his service in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his son, Morgan Foret and wife, Roxanne; daughters, Tammy Savoie and husband, Keith, and Mary Beth Clement and husband, Burnell; brother, Stanley Foret and wife, Meryl; grandchildren, Kristi Bergeron, Jessica Smith, Ryan Clement, Jacob McDonald, Nicholas Clement, Shane Foret, Brandon Clement, Steven Savoie, Matthew Foret, and Nicole Foret; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynne Bourgeois Foret; parents, Anatole Foret and Alice Matherne Foret; brothers, Wilton and Malcolm Foret; and sisters, Thelma Guidry, Louise Gautreaux, Earline Cheramie, and Audrey Foret,
Dudley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked at Evangeline Maid Bread for 33 years and was also an insurance agent for American General Life and Accident Company. He loved fishing and cooking. He was known for having a great sense of humor and he enjoyed spending time telling jokes to his family and friends. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Third Armored Battalion Second Howitzer Division.
He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.
