Joseph Bluebeck Becnel, 92, was born Dec. 17, 1920 and passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Francis (Barbara) Becnel, Robert (Debbie) Becnel, Molly (Kenneth) Levet and Rene (Evelyn) Becnel; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jane B. Percle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Irene Becnel; parents, Abel Becnel Sr. and Margueritte Falgoust Becnel; brothers, Abel Jr., Louis, Francois "Tony" and Joseph Marcel Becnel; sisters, Althe B. Rome, Delta B. Rodrigue, Anne Becnel, Thernica B. Becnel, Yvonne B. Percle, Marie B. Zeringue, Janet B. folse and Mabel B. Guillot; and grandson, Jamin F. Becnel.
He was a World War II veteran and worked at Avondale Shipyard for 38 years.
