MayBelle Rita Portier Antill, 87, a native of Chauvin, longtime resident of Bayou Black and Gibson and resident of Houma, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in Bayou Black Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Gordon Antill Jr. and wife, Carol, of Gibson, and Peggy Antill Bowers and husband, Robert, of Houma; grandchildren, Lesley Antill Hornigold and husband, Mike, of Georgia, Justin Doiron, of Houma, Clinton Doiron and wife, Berit, of Berlin, Germany, and Margeaux Doiron Verdin and husband, Maxie, of Gibson; great-grandchildren, Christianna, Porter, Megan, Bailey and Adilyn; sisters, Marion Portier Wunstell, Alice Portier Duplantis, Mary Portier Pellegrin; and brothers, Jerry, Daniel, and Phillip Portier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Paul Antill Sr.; parents, Leonce and Haydee Portier; brothers, Leonce Jr., Donald, Charles and Fay Portier; and sister, Betty Portier Anselmi.
She was employed for many years as an elementary school teacher. Her favorite pastimes and activities were working in her flower gardens and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a longtime supporter of the Bayouland YMCA and First United Methodist Church. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to thank Haydel Hospice and the Suites at Sugar Mill Pointe in Houma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the "Aquatic Program" of the Bayouland YMCA, 103 Valhi Blvd., Houma, LA 70360.
