Miriam "Mimi" Alice Laussade Rousselle, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Aug. 17, 2014.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Leitz-Eagan Metairie Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church at 4921 West Metairie Avenue. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wilbur B. Rousselle; mother of Alice Rousselle Corkern (Mike), of Covington, Annette Rousselle Champagne (David), of Thibodaux, Andrea R. Ford (Perry), of Sealy, Texas, and the late Wilbur "Bill" Rousselle Jr.; grandmother of Melissa Hymel, Kelli Toups, Justin Champagne, Elise Ford, and Will Ford; great-grandmother of Abbi Champagne, Bryce Hymel, and Caleb Hymel; sister of Marian L. Gibson Vocke, of Metairie, Jeanne L. Dauterive Davis, of Metairie, Lysle G. Laussade, of Luling, Louis P. Laussade Jr., of Arkansas, and the late Clara L. Gremillion; daughter of the late Cmdr. Louis P. and Melvina Laussade.
She was a native of New Orleans, longtime resident of Port Sulphur, and recent resident of Metairie. Mimi graduated Our Lady of Holy Cross College, and later became a teacher. She was a proud member of many organizations including the St. Ann's Altar Society, St. Ann's Rosary Group, VFW Auxiliary, Marine Corps Auxiliary, Paul E. Boyd Unit, Fleet Reserve Auxiliary, Unit 162, Tuesday Quilters, and Les Belle Dames. Our vivacious "Mimi" will be dearly missed by all.
