Tyrone Joseph "Ty" Ledet, 64, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Martin and Castille Downtown Funeral Home in Lafayette. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Lafayette with the Rev. Dr. Duane Peterson officiating.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his life partner, Stuart Burgess; daughters, Elisabeth Thibodaux and husband, Kory, Amanda Ledet and Stephanie Graciana and husband, Joey; father, J.P. Ledet; grandchildren, Andrew Thibodaux, Kaitlyn Thibodaux and Emily Graciana; and brothers, Terry Ledet and wife, Kim, Gary Ledet and wife, Nancy, and David Ledet and wife, Karen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Boudreaux Ledet.
He was born Jan. 5, 1949, in Thibodaux, and he graduated from Thibodaux High School in 1966. He attended Northeast Louisiana State University, (now ULM), where he received a bachelor's in pharmacy. He went on to join the military and served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. He later earned his master's in health administration. Ty worked as director of pharmacy at the Heart Hospital in Lafayette and served as president of the South Central Chapter of LSHP. He was a member of Chorale Acadienne, where he served as a past president and was currently serving as secretary. He was a member of the Krewe of Apollo, where he served as their past king. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Lafayette for many years and served in the church choir. Ty was known for his gracious hospitality and opened his and Stuart's home to many civic and charitable events. He was a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend to all and will be dearly missed.
