Wilton B. Morvant, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013. He was born July 22, 1928, was raised on the Orange Grove Plantation and later moved to Chackbay.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chackbay. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey T. Morvant; loving children, Glenda Ordoyne and husband, Terry, Marty Morvant and wife, Debra, Teddy Morvant and Tina Benoit and husband, Brett; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Vernice Lirette, Clifton Morvant, Madlyn Chiasson and Nelson Morvant Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Morvant Sr. and Ella Clement Morvant; and siblings, Arrise Fajardo, Jules Morvant and Wesley Morvant.
Wilton served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired pipefitter of local Union 60 of New Orleans. He was a member of the Burton Hunting Club and loved to fish, hunt and raise animals. He also loved to play his harmonica for his family and tell stories of his childhood days.
The family would like to thank Lafourche Home for the Aged for the special care given to their loved one.
